DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrive Delhi.

Arrival at Delhi. Our representative will receive you at Airport and will assist you with a smooth transfer to the hotel. Check in to your hotel and relax. Overnight stay at hotel.

 

Day 02: In Delhi, sightseeing.

After having leisurely breakfast proceed for the day sightseeing. You will have a fascinating glimpse into the past at Old Delhi, with its labyrinth of narrow lanes, old havelis, and colourful bazaars. After spending some time at Old Delhi visit the attractions of New Delhi which is typical metropolitan city with all the amenities and luxuries, 5-star hotels and multiplexes are common here. It’s India’s nuclear and political centre. In the afternoon drive back to your hotel and relax. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day Sightseeing: Jama Mosque, Old Delhi area, Presidential House, India gate and Qutab Minar.

 

Day 03: Delhi – (Fly) - Leh ( 3500 Metres).

After having breakfast our representative will assist you with a smooth transfer to Airport at 06:00 AM for your flight to Leh. On arrival at Leh, our representative will receive you at airport and will assist you with a smooth transfer to hotel. Check in to your hotel and remaining time free at leisure, so as to help your body with the acclimatization at this altitude. When travelling from a lower altitude region to a higher altitude region in just 01 – 02 hours of travel duration, the body needs some time to adjust the change in its environment. In the afternoon if you feel like, you can take an hour’s walk to the local market which in turn will help you acclimatization as well. However it is advisable to avoid anything strenuous, on first day. Overnight stay at hotel.

 

 

Day 04: In Leh, walking sightseeing.

After having leisurely breakfast proceed for the halfday walking sightseeing. Shanti Stupa the white-domes was built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu, Gyomyo Nakamura as a part of the Peace Pagoda mission. The stupa is a symbol of the ties between the people of Japan and Ladakh. Sankar Gomap which is well known for not only its incredible architecture but also because it’s a treasure-trove of history and art. Sankar Monastery is believed to be a subsidiary of Spituk Monastery, with the same Lama presiding over it. The Leh main market is home to Tibetan antiques, jewellery and curios. You can also buy handcrafted carpets, rugs and pashmina shawls. In the afternoon return to your hotel and remaining time free at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day sightseeing : Shanti Stupa, Sankar Monastery and local market.

Day 05: In Leh, sightseeing.

After having leisurely breakfast proceed for the  day sightseeing at 10:00 AM. Lapped in the snow-covered fringes of the Himalayas, Leh has been the center of Tibeto-Buddhist culture since ages. Its colorful gompas have attracted the devout Buddhists from all over the globe. In the afternoon return to your hotel and remaining time free at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day Sightseeing : Shey Monastery, Thiksey Monastery and Hemis Monastery.   

 

Day 06: Leh – (Drive) – Zinchan – (Trek) – Yurutse (3900 Metres)

Drive: 23 Kms / 01 Hr approx. Trek: 3 hours approx.

After having breakfast drive to Zinchan for around 01 Hour. On arrival at Zinchan start your trek to Uruste. It's a gradual climb from Zinchen to Rumbak. From here one gets fabulous views of the snow capped Stok Mountains. Move along the Rumbak Nala towards Yurutse. At Yurutse village there are fields of barley and potatoes. Overnight in Tents.

 

Day 07: Yurutse - Skiu (3100 mts ) via Ganda La (4900 Metres).  

Trek:  05 - 06 hours approx.

A gradual ascent followed by a steep climb gets one to the Ganda la From here views extend south to the Zanskar range and distant summits of the Himalayan range. This is followed by a long descent to Shingo village. From Shingo the trail heads into a narrow gorge leading towards Skiu. At Skiu there is a confluence of the rivers coming from Markha valley and Shingo. Overnight in Tents.

 

Day 08: Skiu  -  Markha (3800 Metres)

Trek:  06 - 07 hours approx.

After having breakfast at camps, trek to Markha. Its a very pleasant hike, up the Markha valley today with the trail crossing numerous streams. Markha is a quaint village with a deserted fort and a small village Overnight in Tents.

 

Day 09: Markha  -  Tahungtse (4012 Metres)

Trek: 05 – 06 hours approx.

After having breakfast at camps, trek to Tahungtse.  From Markha the country changes and the warm, relatively heavily wooded sections of the lower Markha is left behind. One will be required to cross the river several times as there are no bridges here. Hankar, en route, is the highest village in the Markha valley. Overnight in Tents.   

 

Day 10: Tahungtse   -  Nimaling (4700 Metres)

Trek: 03 - 04 hours approx.

After having breakfast at camps, trek to Nimaling. The trek starts on a good path with several small inclines and a series of grassy ridges. There are a series of mani walls (walls carved with Buddhist prayers) and chortens en route. This is one of the most beautiful high valleys in Ladakh and is dominated by the Kangyaze peak. Overnight in Tents.                         

 

 

Day 11: Nimaling  -  Shang Sumdo (3730 mts) via Kongmaru La (5130m)

Trek: 06 – 07 hours approx.           

After having breakfast at camps, trek to Sumdo. Today you will cross to the north of the Markha, climbing to the top of the highest of the three passes, the 5,130 M Kongmaru La, with its wonderful views from the top. There are snow peaks in every direction and on a clear day the giants of Karakoram, including K2, can be seen on the north-western horizon. The trail descends to the Martselang valley, following the Martselang stream to the village of Shang Sumdo. Overnight in tents.

 

Day 12: Shang Sumdo – Shang Phu. (4250 Metres)

Trek: 5 to 6 hours approx.

After having breakfast trek to Mankorma. Today the trail ascend gradually through green fields of wheat and barley following the Shang river, flowing from south of Matho Kangri. The valley heads up a shepherds hut the grasslands around serve as grazing grounds for yak, sheep and goats. We camp overnight at Shang Phu.

 

Day 13: Shang Phu – Gangboche (4450 Metres) via Shang Phu La (4950 metres)

Trek: 07 – 08 Hours approx.

After having breakfast trek to Gangboche. Today you will ascend almost 900m towards the Shang Phu La, leaving behind the Shang valley and the vast grasslands and meadows. At the top of the pass, you can see ahead towards today’s camp at Gangboche. Traverse down the pass for an hour or so to reach the vast green plateau of Gangboche, crossing meandering streams. Overnight stay in Tents.

 

Day 14: Gangboche to Mankarmo (4400 metres)

Trek: 6 - 7 hours approx.

We will be able to see the Stok Kangri summit today just before the we climb the Mato La pass, the second highest Pass on the trek. From the pass, descend for 2 hours into the Mankarmo village inhabited by local shepherds. Overnight stay in Tents.

 

Day 15: Mankorma – Stok Kangri base camp (4980 metres).

Trek: 5 to 6 hours approx

The grandness of Stok Kangri Peak can be experienced from Manokarma Campsite but from Stok Kangri Base Camp, the mountain isn’t visible at all. The trail climbs up gradually in altitude but it isn’t particularly harsh at any point during the entire stretch. You’ll come across cute Marmots (Himalayan Rodents) expanding their colony by digging. Snow leopard has also been spotted in the upper parts of this region but they camouflage themselves so cleverly that only lucky ones are blessed with their sight. Numerous colourful tents and prayer flags marks the arrival of Stok Kangri Base Camp. Overnight stay in Tents.

 

Day 16: Summit Day.

Trek: 09 – 10 Hours approx.

The toughest day of the trip, it would test anyone’s endurance as it’s a long way up from the Base Camp to the Summit (6150 metres) and back. The climb starts off steep from the Base Camp which flattens out slowly till we cross the glacier. Having crossed the glacier, we climb up the steep slope to the summit ridge. A couple of hours of scrambling on the ridge brings us to the summit of the Stok Kangri which offers wide open views of the Karakoram range on the north with the Saser Kangri dominating the sky and Zanskar ranges on the south. Back at camp for a late lunch. Overnight stay in Tents.

 

Day 17: Stok Kangri base camp – (Trek) - Stok Village (3570 metres)– (Drive) – Leh

Trek: 06 Hours approx.  

From base camp we descend all the way to Stok village. This is a great walk passing by numerous ruins of old forts and castles. It takes about six hours to reach Stok village where we will meet with our vehicles for a drive back to Leh. On arrival at Leh check in to your hotel and relax. Overnight stay at hotel.

 

 

Day 18: In Leh, Free day.

The day will be free for leisure activities.

                                               

Day 19: Leh  -  (Fly)  -   Delhi

After having breakfast our representative will assists you with a smooth transfer to the airport at 07:00 AM for your flight to Delhi. On arrival at Delhi our representative will receive you at airport and will assist you with a smooth transfer to hotel. Check in to your hotel and relax. Overnight stat at hotel.

 

Day 20: Depart Home. 

After having breakfast our representative will assists you with a smooth transfer to the airport for your flight back to home.
